Georgia's array of top colleges and universities means thousands visit the state each year – from sports fan traveling in to cheer their teams to victory, to traveling families looking to find the perfect college for their high school-aged daughter or son.
Plan your next visit to Georgia and be sure to explore as many of these excellent schools as you can.
Northern Georgia is home to some of the state's bigger, more popular schools like the University of Georgia in Athens, and the Georgia Tech University in Atlanta. These two schools have made a name for themselves in the world of college sports, but also excel in academics, research, and beyond.
As you make your way into central Georgia, don't miss out on a campus tour of Mercer University, found in Macon. Not far away in Columbus is the campus at Columbus State University. When you visit Mercer, be sure to check out the Mercer Village, and if you make it out to CSU you can't miss the T.Y. Whitley Clock Tower.
Southern Georgia makes its own mark on the college landscape. From cities like Waycross and Valdosta you can find premier schools to visit. Georgia State College, established in 1906, is in Douglas, just a short drive northwest from downtown Waycross.
Closer to the Florida-Georgia border you'll find Valdosta State University. The VSU Blazers thrill and entertain sports fans with football games at the Bazemore-Hyder Stadium, and basketball games at the PE Complex.
When you visit to Georgia has you exploring the coast, you'll find even more exceptional colleges to tour. Savannah is home to two: Savannah State University and Armstrong State University. Both campuses features a lush, coastal backdrop – ideal during spring.
