Tour Coastal Georgia Cities like Cairo & Brunswick
Try Some Fishing in Georgia
Head south into southern and coastal Georgia and visit cities like Valdosta, Savannah, and Cairo – each a sterling choice on their own, and providing a world of outdoor activity for you and the family.
If you’re traveling with your golf clubs and looking for a nice course to get in a round of 18 before lunch, be sure to set a tee time for the Stone Creek Golf Club.
A par 72, enjoy 18 glorious holes over 6,705 yards of pristine southern landscapes. Make the drive in to Valdosta from Thomasville or Cairo and try some fishing at Longdales Pond, just sound of downtown Valdosta.
In Thomasville, you’ll find a full day of outdoor adventure at the Thomasville Rose Garden. A quick drive from Cherokee Lake, the Thomasville Rose Garden hosts thousands of visitors a year, and features more than 500 rose bushes – perfect for a relaxing afternoon stroll with the family.
In the southeastern corner of the state, you’ll find attractive and fun cities like Waycross, Kingsland, and nearby Brunswick. In Waycross, be sure to plan an exhilarating hike around the Waycross State Forest, and then play a round of golf at the Lakes Course, a division of the Lakes at Laura S. Walker.
Make your way to Brunswick, just off I-95 and only a few miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean. In Brunswick, enjoy a guided tour of the grounds at the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation Historic Site – a fun and unique way to learn a little about some local history, while still taking advantage of cool fall weather, or warm summer days.
Further north from Brunswick is Savannah, the so-called “Hostess Coty of the South.” Enjoy your time in Savannah with outdoor excursions along the coast, as the waters of the Atlantic border the city.
Don’t hesitate to take full advantage of the wealth of fishing options in the Savannah area – plan visits to Little Ogeechee River at Bell’s Landing, Lazaretto Creek – just off the shore of the Savannah River – and many local anglers love a trip to Moon River at Downing Piers. Pack your tackle and make the trip in from nearby Richmond Hill.
