Barrington Hall Golf

Found in Macon, the Barrington Hall Golf Course offers an 18-hole, outstanding course in central Georgia. In fact, Barrington Hall was recently recognized as “one of Georgia’s top 10 courses.” Be sure to pack your clubs on your next trip to Georgia – sneak in nine holes before lunch.

Big Lazer Creek

The seating capacity at Claude Smith Field is 500, and there are concession stands, and a press box. The stadium was named for the school's winningest baseball coach, Claude Smith, who coached the Mercer Bears from 1948 to 1977, winning 405 games along the way. The Mercer Bears baseball teams plays from March through the end of May.

Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

With a total size of 43,000 square feet, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is the largest state sports museum in the country. Home to more than 3,000 artifacts, the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is a must-see attractions for anyone visiting Macon in central GA. You can find the GSHoF near downtown along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is open Tuesday through Saturday for general admission, closed on Sunday, and open Monday, but only for group, pre-reserved tours. Throughout the year at the GSHoF, you can find any number of timely exhibits – visiting during the college football season for excellent displays on the Bulldogs, Yellowjackets, and more.

Hawkins Arena

Make the most of your next visit to Georgia with a day filled with exciting college basketball. Head for Macon and check out the Hawkins Arena, home of the Mercer University Bears men's and men's basketball teams. There are few better ways to enjoy a visit to central GA than with some high-flying college hoops. 

Opened in 2004, the Hawkins Arena seats 3,500 fans, and has an authentic hardwood playing surface. You can find Hawkins Arena, also known as the University Center, on the Mercer campus, just south of downtown Macon. Within Hawkins Arena, there is also an indoor pool, the offices of the Mercer Athletics Department, and a food court.

Mercer University

As the oldest private school in Georgia, Mercer University is a premier destination, top school, and must-visit attraction in the city of Macon. Established in 1833, Mercer boasts 12 different schools across studies like business, pharmacy, law, education, and more. The school was originally the Mercer Institute. 

Plan a visit to Mercer University as part of your day exploring Macon. You can find the school along Interstate 75 in downtown. Be sure to check out the University Center, also known as the Hawkins Arena, and Mercer Village, location of the Center for Collaborative Journalism. In sports, the Mercer Bears compete in the Southern Conference across 17 varsity sports.

Middle Georgia Regional Airport

Set in Bibb County, Middle Georgia Regional Airport (MCN) is set in central Georgia, and primarily serves the Macon metropolitan area. Owned by the City of Macon, MCN is a public, primary commercial service airport.

Encompassing over 1,100 acres, MCN features two runways and passenger services to Atlanta and Orlando by Silver Airways. Formerly the Lewis B. Wilson Municipal Airport and Macon Municipal Airport, MCN is also served by cargo airline Flight Express, Inc.

Easily accessed via I-16, the Ocmulgee National Monument is a premier and historic site in the area, as it lives to preserve the Native American population of the area. 

Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966, the Ocmulgee National Monument features seven different mounds for guests to see.
